Venus Yellow Fluorescent Protein for yeast

Venus yellow fluorescent protein from Aequorea victoria [1], codon-optimized for expression in Komagataella phaffii (previously referred to as Pichia Pastoris). The protein is suitable to use as a fluorescent reporter. If used as fusion tag it is recommended to add a linker between Venus and the other protein domain not to impair the activity [2].

Venus has an excitation wavelength of 515 nm and emission wavelength of 528 nm [3]. Venus has the advantage over many other YFPs of being less sensitive to environmental factors such as pH and chloride ions, and has a quicker rate of maturation [1].
